A training aircraft of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) crashed within the premises of the SLAF Academy in China Bay shortly after take-off this morning leaving the pilot and an officer dead.

A training aircraft of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) crashed within the premises of the SLAF Academy in China Bay shortly after take-off this morning leaving the pilot and an officer dead.  

According to SLAF spokesperson Captain Dushan Wijesinghe, the ill-fated flight took off at 11:25 am and tragically crashed just two minutes later at 11:27 am, resulting in the fatal injuries of both the pilot and the officer.

As a response to this tragic event, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa has appointed a special committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and determine its cause.
