The Water Board said on average water tariffs have been increased by between 30 and 50 per cent on average for consumers under all categories other than for low-income families.
The monthly water bill of any premises includes, in addition to the water charges, monthly service charges, other charges and applicable taxes.
The notice was issued by the Minister of Water Supply and State Infrastructure Development, under Section 84 of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board Law No. 02 of 1974. In addition to raising the tariff charged for a unit, the monthly service charges has also been raised in this revision.
