The discussions centered around empowering women in leadership roles and promoting gender diversity in politics. Jacinda Ardern shared her experiences of leading New Zealand through various challenges, including economic crises and the Covid-19 pandemic.
The attention of the women Parliamentarians was particularly drawn to policies aimed at providing opportunities for women reentering the job market after caring for children, wage equality, paid parental leave, and reducing child poverty.
Helen Clark, the first female Prime Minister of New Zealand, also shared her political experiences and highlighted measures taken during her tenure to empower women, such as civil marriage reforms and encouraging women to save for retirement.
