The Public Health Department of the Colombo Municipal Council has taken steps to introduce a QR code-based system to enable the public to lodge complaints regarding food quality within the Colombo Municipal Council limits.
Under the new system, QR codes will be displayed at every restaurant within the municipal council area. Customers can scan the QR code, fill out the online form provided and submit complaints about food quality.
The complaints will be sent directly to the relevant Medical Officers of Health and Public Health Inspectors, who will take necessary action.
The Colombo Municipal Council has stated that the identity of complainants will remain confidential.
The public has also been advised not to hand over the food item concerned to the restaurant after making a complaint and to keep the receipt as evidence.
The public can also lodge complaints regarding food quality by calling 011 267 6161 or sending an email to [email protected].
