Sri Lanka has been named the ‘Luxury Food Destination of the Year’ at the Travel & Taste Awards 2026, held in the United Kingdom, further strengthening the country's position as an emerging destination for luxury food and travel experiences.
The award was presented by Travel & Taste Awards Chief Organiser Alex Crosley at the Sri Lanka Tourism promotional stand during the World Travel Market exhibition.
The awards recognise outstanding food-focused travel experiences worldwide across 17 categories. Winners are selected by a panel of industry experts, including spirits specialist Millie Milliken-Holdsham, food travel content creator Verna Gao, and hospitality experts Gina Jackson and Millie Kenny-Ryder.
The judging panel highlighted Sri Lanka's boutique hotel groups, which are redefining luxury hospitality, its vibrant culinary scene, and its use of indigenous natural produce as key factors behind the recognition.
Sri Lanka Tourism stated that the award further enhances the country's international reputation as a luxury food and travel destination, showcasing its diverse culinary traditions and high-quality dining experiences.
The recognition is also expected to support efforts to attract more experience-driven international travellers to Sri Lanka.
