A fishing vessel bearing registration number IMUL-A-0022 TLE, which had gone missing after losing communication due to Cyclone Arnab, along with its four crew members, has been found safe.
The Ministry of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources stated that the vessel was located today (01) in deep sea waters approximately 200 nautical miles off the coast of Pottuvil.
The vessel had departed from the Kudawella Fisheries Harbour on October 21 for a four-day fishing trip.
However, amid strong winds and rough sea conditions caused by Cyclone Arnab, the vessel lost its communication links, cutting off all contact with the shore.
Following a report that the vessel was missing, the Department of Fisheries' Search and Rescue Coordination Centre launched a special search operation to locate it.
