Swiss airline Edelweiss Air has resumed its winter flight operations to Sri Lanka, re-establishing direct air connectivity between Switzerland and the island with three flights per week.

According to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), the airline has recommenced its seasonal services to Sri Lanka for the winter period, providing travellers with convenient direct connections between the two countries.

Passengers arriving on the inaugural flight were welcomed with a traditional Kandyan dance performance organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

The cultural performance was arranged to offer visitors a warm welcome and showcase Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage upon their arrival.

The resumption of Edelweiss Air’s winter operations is expected to support tourist arrivals from Switzerland during Sri Lanka’s peak tourism season, strengthening connectivity and further supporting the country’s tourism industry.
