Two spill gates of the Upper Kotmale Reservoir were opened today (21) due to continued rainfall in the reservoir’s catchment areas, reservoir engineers said.
The engineers warned that the remaining spill gates could open automatically if heavy rainfall continues in the area.
Residents living along both banks of the Kotmale Oya downstream of the reservoir dam have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
