Sanjaya Samarasinha, the personal secretary to Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (20).
The court ordered his release on two personal sureties of Rs. 1 million each and imposed a travel ban preventing him from leaving the country.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after considering submissions made by CIABOC officials and President’s Counsel Sampath Mendis, who appeared on behalf of the suspect.
Samarasinha was arrested yesterday (19) when he appeared before the Bribery Commission to provide a statement.
