The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has granted approval to impose one-hour power cuts from today (19), if necessary, due to a shortfall in electricity generation following the unavailability of the Lakvijaya Power Station.
The National System Operator (NSO) may implement demand management measures, including scheduled power cuts, if electricity generation is insufficient to meet the country’s demand.
The approval allows the NSO to introduce one-hour power cuts if required to manage the electricity supply situation.
