Sri Lanka Customs has achieved its revenue target for 2026, collecting Rs. 2,208 billion as of yesterday (13), exceeding its annual target of Rs. 2,207 billion.
According to Sri Lanka Customs, the 2026 revenue target was higher than the previous year's target, yet it was achieved in a shorter period.
In 2025, Customs reached its initial revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion on November 11. Following this achievement, the target was revised upwards to Rs. 2,231 billion.
By the end of 2025, Sri Lanka Customs had exceeded the revised target, recording total revenue of Rs. 2,557.5 billion.
As part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, Customs introduced the use of digital signatures for submitting customs declarations from October 1.
From October 19, customs declarations will be accepted exclusively with digital signatures, bringing an end to the acceptance of documents submitted under the previous system.
Sri Lanka Customs stated that improvements in revenue collection efficiency and measures to minimise fraud and corruption had contributed to exceeding its revenue targets within a shorter period.
