The “Freedom March,” calling for the release of Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, who is serving a prison sentence, is scheduled to resume today (October 13) for its fourth day, travelling from Warakapola to Nittambuwa.
The march, which began in Kegalle, concluded its third day in Warakapola yesterday.
The Buddhist clergy launched the march from near the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on October 10, demanding the Thero’s release and protesting against the decision to make him wear civilian clothing in prison.
Meanwhile, signature campaigns and other marches calling for Gnanasara Thero’s release are continuing in several parts of the country.
