Amber Advisory issued for heavy rainfall in five Areas

The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for heavy rainfall in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, as well as the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

The advisory was issued at 6.30 p.m. today (12) and will remain in effect until 6.30 p.m. tomorrow (13).

Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island, with rainfall exceeding 100 mm likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, the department said.
