India women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur has decided to step down from captaincy across all formats, according to foreign media reports.
Kaur officially announced her decision in a post on Instagram this morning (6), saying she believes the team is in a good position and that it is the right time to hand over the leadership.
She also said her love for cricket remains strong and that she intends to continue playing for India.
Kaur has led the Indian women’s team to several historic achievements, most notably guiding India to their maiden Women’s ODI World Cup title last year.
The 37-year-old has captained India in five Test matches, 51 ODIs and 155 T20Is.
