Thunderstorms are likely to occur in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo during the evening or night, according to the Meteorological Department.
Temporary strong winds, reaching 60–70 km/h, may occur in these sea areas during thunderstorms.
As a result, the affected sea areas may become very rough temporarily, the department warned.
The fishing and naval communities engaged in activities in these areas are advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution during this period.
