Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has returned to Sri Lanka after travelling to Singapore. She arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at around 11:20 p.m. yesterday (05), aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH179, which arrived from Malaysia, according to airport sources.

Her return comes amid ongoing attention surrounding investigations into the financial affairs of the Siriliya Saviya organisation.

Earlier yesterday, Shiranthi Rajapaksa filed an anticipatory bail application before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court, seeking an order preventing her arrest in connection with the investigation.

The application was filed through her lawyers, following a request by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) for her to provide a statement regarding the investigation.
