Sri Lanka’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya has pledged to take strict disciplinary action against police officers who violate professional conduct standards.

Speaking at the opening of the official residence of the Buttala Police Station, the IGP stressed that discipline and integrity are essential to maintaining public confidence in the police service.

He urged police officers to uphold the highest standards of conduct, emphasizing that accountability is vital to preserving the credibility and reputation of the police force.

Senior police officials, including Uva Province Senior Deputy Inspector General Mahesh Senanayake and Monaragala District Deputy Inspector General Nihal Thalduwa, also attended the event.

The ceremony highlighted ongoing efforts to improve facilities and working conditions for police personnel while strengthening professionalism within the service.
