The National Transport Commission (NTC) has confirmed that bus fares will not be increased despite the recent rise in fuel prices.
NTC Chairman Eng. P. A. Chandrapala said the increase in the price of a litre of diesel under this month’s fuel price revision was not significant enough to warrant a revision of bus fares.
Accordingly, no increase in bus fares will be implemented at this time.
Meanwhile, the government has allocated a subsidy of Rs. 4.1 billion for the months of October, November and December to support the transport sector.
