The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has surpassed the Rs. 2 trillion mark in revenue collection as of September 30, 2026.
Accordingly, the Department has collected a total of Rs. 2,040 billion between January 1 and September 30 this year.
This represents an increase of Rs. 398 billion compared to the Rs. 1,642 billion collected during the corresponding period in 2025.
The IRD’s annual revenue target for 2026 is Rs. 2,401 billion, of which 85% had been achieved by September 30.
Meanwhile, the Department collected Rs. 288 billion in revenue during September alone, an increase of Rs. 72 billion compared to the Rs. 216 billion collected in September last year.
The Inland Revenue Department said the growth in revenue was supported by increased voluntary tax compliance among taxpayers and improved efficiency in tax administration.
