The 1818 hotline introduced under the “Ratama Ekata” national operation to eradicate the illegal drug menace is now operating 24 hours a day from the operation’s main office and media centre.
The Government Information Department’s Publicity Division announced this in a statement.
The hotline has been established to enable the public to provide security authorities with accurate information on drug trafficking, distribution, or any other suspicious activities related to illegal drugs across the country.
Anyone in Sri Lanka can provide information through the hotline, with the confidentiality of informants fully protected. Authorities have also pledged to take prompt action based on the information received.
The service is coordinated under the direct supervision of the Presidential Secretariat and the “Ratama Ekata” National Operations Council, enabling members of the public to safely provide information to security authorities at any time.
