The Railway Department has taken steps to resume train services along the Upcountry railway line between Rambukkana, Peradeniya and Gampola, which was severely damaged due to Cyclone Ditwah.
A total of 103 locations along the railway line between Rambukkana and Gampola were damaged, including 36 major landslides and 67 incidents involving earth slips and washouts.
Accordingly, normal train services from Colombo Fort to Peradeniya and Gampola are scheduled to resume according to the regular timetable from the afternoon of October 2, 2026.
