The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has decided to bring a motion of no confidence against Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said.
According to Madduma Bandara, the decision was finalized at a recent meeting of the SJB parliamentary group.
He said the motion is expected to be formally submitted to the Speaker in the coming days.
The SJB General Secretary further stated that the motion contains more than 40 specific grounds and allegations relating to the Speaker’s conduct.
The move is expected to trigger further debate in Parliament over the Speaker’s conduct and the SJB’s concerns regarding his handling of parliamentary affairs.
