Sri Lanka Navy disaster response teams are continuing operations today, 25 September 2026, to assist residents affected by floods at Mapalagama in the Galle district, following the overflowing of the Gin River.
Naval personnel deployed to the inundated area provided safe transportation facilities for local residents, enabling them to move securely and attend to essential daily needs despite rising water levels.
Moreover, to address the impact of minor flooding in the Southern Province, 7 relief teams have been stationed across several key locations. These include Thawalama, Hiniduma, Mapalagama, Dodangoda, Udugama, Nagoda, and Habaragoda.
