Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is set to return home from the ongoing series against England after experiencing stiffness and spasms in his back and neck.
Hasaranga missed the first ODI against England due to the discomfort, with Sachindu Colombage named as his replacement in the playing XI. Colombage went on to make an impressive debut in the format.
While the full extent of Hasaranga’s condition has not yet been confirmed, the Sri Lankan team management and selectors are understood to have decided not to risk the all-rounder for the remainder of the England series.
Hasaranga is expected to return to Sri Lanka for further attention to his back and neck, followed by a period of rest and recovery.
