A police chase that began in Giriulla ended dramatically in Pannala after officers intercepted a luxury car and arrested its driver and two women following an alleged attempt to flee from police.
According to the Police, the vehicle failed to stop when officers signalled the driver to pull over in the Giriulla area and instead continued driving. Police subsequently opened fire and launched a pursuit.
The chase ended in Pannala town, where police used a jeep and several other vehicles to block the car and bring it to a stop.
However, the incident did not end there.
Police said the driver locked the doors and remained inside the vehicle despite officers ordering the occupants to come out. Officers reportedly pointed a T-56 rifle at the vehicle and warned that they would open fire if the doors were not opened.
When the occupants allegedly continued to refuse, police broke the vehicle's windows and forced open a door before taking the driver and the two women into custody.
Police also said a small quantity of suspected drugs was found in the possession of the male suspect.
The three suspects, all residents of the Giriulla area, have been taken into custody.
