Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, who had been issued a warrant for his arrest, appeared before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court a short while ago.
Appearing for Weerawansa, his counsel Manjula Pathiraja told court that his client had been unable to appear before the court on time due to a mechanical fault in his vehicle.
The lawyer accordingly requested the court to recall the warrant issued against Weerawansa.
However, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama directed that the request be made by way of a motion tomorrow (22).
