The Irrigation Department has warned of a possible minor flooding situation in low-lying areas along the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga.
The warning follows considerable rainfall recorded in the upstream catchment areas of the Kuda Ganga sub-basin of the Kalu Ganga as of 9.30 a.m. today (20).
Based on the prevailing rainfall and river water levels recorded at hydrological stations, the Department said low-lying areas in the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga valleys could experience minor flooding.
The affected areas include the Bulathsinhala, Madurawala and Palinda Nuwara Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
There is also a high possibility of roads running through the flood plains of the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga being inundated.
Residents in low-lying areas and motorists travelling through the affected locations have been urged to exercise heightened caution.
