Two female executives have been arrested and remanded in custody in connection with an alleged large-scale financial fraud involving a private company that collected advance payments from customers while promising to construct houses under an easy-payment scheme.

The suspects, aged 30 and 31, are residents of Kahawatta and Kaduwela and reportedly served as the company's marketing manager and operations officer. They were arrested by officers of the Mirihana Special Crime Investigation Division on September 17.

Following their arrest, police seized four motor vehicles allegedly found in the suspects' possession as part of the ongoing investigation.

The two women were produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court on September 18. The Magistrate ordered that they be remanded until September 29.

The arrests follow the earlier arrest of a director of the company on July 28 in connection with the same investigation. The director was also remanded in custody, and the court extended his remand period until September 29 during proceedings on September 18.

According to police, 245 formal complaints have so far been received from individuals who allegedly paid advance sums to the company for housing construction but did not receive the promised services.

Police said investigations are continuing to identify additional assets and locate other individuals who may have been involved in the alleged scheme.

Authorities are urging anyone who believes they may have been affected by the company to provide information to investigators.
