The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) closed lower for the fourth consecutive session on September 17, 2026, as both benchmark indices declined amid continued selling pressure and cautious investor sentiment.


The All Share Price Index (ASPI) fell 109.98 points, or 0.52%, to close at 21,023.43. The S&P SL20 Index also declined 22.33 points, or 0.38%, to 5,924.96.

The ASPI remained on a downward trend for most of the session, with selling pressure intensifying in the afternoon and pushing the index close to the 21,000 level.

Market turnover stood at Rs. 1.33 billion, with 55.41 million shares changing hands.

The Capital Goods sector recorded the highest sector turnover at Rs. 282.21 million, while PickMe generated the highest turnover among individual counters at Rs. 161.82 million.
