A corruption case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa was taken up before the Colombo High Court today (17).

Both accused, who are currently out on bail, appeared before court, according to Ada Derana.

After considering submissions made by both parties, the court ordered that the case be called for a pre-trial conference.

CIABOC has alleged that a corruption offence was committed by sending Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, for training at the Royal Naval College in the United Kingdom despite him allegedly not possessing the required qualifications.

The case relates to allegations surrounding his recruitment into the Sri Lanka Navy and subsequent overseas training.
