Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (16) issued warrants for the arrest of former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva and his wife, Priyanga Anushka Wijenayake.
The warrants were issued when a case involving Kapila Chandrasena and his wife was taken up before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today.
According to court proceedings, de Silva and his wife had stood as sureties for Kapila Chandrasena’s wife. However, they reportedly failed to appear before the court as required.
Counsel appearing for them submitted that they were unable to appear in court as Aravinda de Silva’s mother had passed away and her funeral was scheduled to be held today.
