A luxury long-range private jet owned by a Sri Lankan has arrived at the Ratmalana International Airport, marking what is being described as the first such aircraft owned by a Sri Lankan to visit the country.
The Gulfstream business jet made its maiden flight to Sri Lanka from Perth, Australia.
Capable of flying at an altitude of around 51,000 feet above sea level, the aircraft is designed for long-distance travel and offers a high level of luxury, comfort and efficiency.
The jet can reportedly fly continuously for nearly 14 hours and accommodate around 17 passengers comfortably. It is equipped with a sleeping cabin, dining facilities, relaxation areas and a fully equipped kitchen, among other luxury amenities.
Gulfstream aircraft are widely used by leading global business figures and celebrities, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
The aircraft is reportedly owned by Dr. Rosh Jalan, a Perth-based Sri Lankan businessman and owner of the Roshana Care business network, which provides healthcare and care services with operations centred in Australia and Singapore.
Dr. Jalan was accompanied on the special flight by his wife, Priyanka Gamage, a barrister in England.
According to Dr. Jalan, one of the main objectives of the visit is to attract the attention of high-net-worth international businesspeople to Sri Lanka and create new opportunities for investment and business in the country.
