The Department of Meteorology has warned of an increased possibility of thundershowers accompanied by strong lightning in several parts of Sri Lanka during the evening or night.
The affected areas include the Eastern, Uva, North Central, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Kurunegala districts.
Temporary strong winds may also occur in these areas during thunderstorms.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions to minimize accidents caused by lightning.
