Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Thailand from September 14 to 16, 2026, at the invitation of Thailand’s Minister of Labour.
During the visit, Minister Herath is expected to hold discussions with Thailand’s Minister of Labour, Minister of Tourism and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The discussions will focus on further strengthening bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand in areas of mutual interest.
As part of the visit, the two countries are expected to strengthen cooperation in the labour sector through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Cooperation and a Memorandum of Agreement on the Employment of Sri Lankan Workers in Thailand.
The visit is also expected to provide an opportunity to advance practical cooperation in tourism, employment, migration and labour mobility, while strengthening people-to-people ties and enhancing bilateral economic engagement.
The visit is aimed at further deepening relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand and expanding cooperation in key areas of mutual benefit.
