A fire that broke out in the Muthurajawela Wetland reserve has been brought under control, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 412 helicopter was deployed to assist in containing the blaze. The Air Force conducted a special operation to drop water from the air and prevent the fire from spreading.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities are continuing efforts to fully extinguish the remaining flames, the DMC said.
