The proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution is scheduled to be taken up for debate in Parliament on September 24.
The decision was made by the Committee on Parliamentary Business, which met today (10) at the Parliamentary Complex to allocate parliamentary time for the next sitting week.
Accordingly, the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill will be debated on September 24, while the Judicature (Amendment) Bill will be taken up for its Second Reading on September 25.
The Judicature (Amendment) Bill proposes changes to Sri Lanka’s judicial framework, including provisions relating to the tenure and retirement age of judges.
