Newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang met former President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning (9) at the former President’s official residence in Colombo.

During the meeting, Rajapaksa extended his warm congratulations to Ambassador Wei, who officially assumed duties as China’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka after presenting his credentials on August 25.

The meeting was also attended by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary and Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam.

During the visit, Ambassador Wei presented Rajapaksa with a special publication featuring traditional Chinese paintings, aimed at providing a deeper appreciation of Chinese civilisation.

Expressing his gratitude for the gesture, Rajapaksa reflected on the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Sri Lanka and China. He also conveyed his appreciation for China’s continued support for Sri Lanka.
