Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
Following the meeting, Singh said he conveyed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings to President Dissanayake and congratulated him on the completion of two years of his government.
Singh described India and Sri Lanka as “civilized twins, close neighbours, and maritime partners,” saying both countries had reaffirmed their commitment to working together for development and the well-being of their people.
He also said India and Sri Lanka had reaffirmed their resolve to cooperate on the security, safety, peace and prosperity of the region.
Singh is in Sri Lanka on an official visit focused on further strengthening bilateral and defence ties, with maritime security and regional cooperation among the key areas of discussion.
