Sri Lanka’s main celebrations to mark World Tourism Day 2026 are planned to be held in the Nallathanniya area of Sri Pada, with a series of tourism promotion programmes scheduled for September 28 and 29.
The programmes will be conducted around Mohini Ella and the Maskeliya Reservoir, with the participation of the Ministry of Tourism, the Central Province Tourism Department and several other institutions.
Chairman of the Nuwara Eliya District Development Committee and Member of Parliament Manjula Suraveeraarachchi said a range of activities has also been organised targeting both local and foreign tourists.
The programmes will focus on tourist attractions including Aberdeen, Laxapana, Murray and Gartmore waterfalls, as well as the Maskeliya Reservoir.
The main objective is to promote tourist attractions in the Nuwara Eliya District and attract a greater number of local and international visitors to the region in conjunction with World Tourism Day.
