Yala National Park’s Zones 1 and 2 will be closed to visitors from September 14 due to the prevailing high temperatures, authorities have announced.

The decision has been taken considering the difficult conditions faced by wildlife and wildlife officers amid the intense heat.

Additional Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation Manjula Amararatne said the increasing number of tourist jeeps entering the park has also made it difficult for wildlife officers to carry out their duties under the prevailing conditions.
