Special traffic plan will be implemented in Colombo from today (08) to ( 10)

Special traffic plan will be implemented in Colombo from today (September 8) to September 10 in view of the official visit of Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Sri Lanka, the Colombo Traffic Division has announced.

According to the police, traffic will be restricted intermittently and as required along routes used by the visiting dignitary during the specified periods.

The main traffic restrictions are as follows:

September 8

1:30 p.m.: Traffic restrictions will be imposed along the route from Bandaranaike International Airport to the Taj Samudra Hotel via the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway, the Port premises and the NSA Roundabout.

8:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.: Restrictions will be imposed along the route from the Taj Samudra Hotel to India House and back.

September 9

9:50 a.m.–11:25 a.m.: Traffic restrictions will be in place between the Taj Samudra Hotel and the Presidential Secretariat via Galle Face Centre Road.

From 2:00 p.m.: Restrictions will be imposed along the route from the Taj Samudra Hotel to the Indian Peace Keeping Force Memorial at Ape Gama premises in Battaramulla.

2:45 p.m.–3:45 p.m.: Traffic restrictions will be imposed along the route from Ape Gama to the Ministry of Defence.

4:00 p.m.–4:30 p.m.: Restrictions will be imposed on the route to the Parliament complex.

4:35 p.m.–5:00 p.m.: Traffic restrictions will be imposed along the route to Gangaramaya Temple.

From 5:30 p.m.: Restrictions will be imposed along the route back to the Taj Samudra Hotel.

7:00 p.m.–7:10 p.m.: Traffic restrictions will be imposed between the Taj Samudra Hotel and the Colombo Port premises.

September 10

9:00 a.m.–9:10 a.m.: Traffic restrictions will be imposed along the route from the Taj Samudra Hotel to the helipad at the Colombo Port, from where the Indian Defence Minister is scheduled to travel to Nuwara Eliya.

The Colombo Traffic Division has requested motorists and the public to use alternative routes where possible to avoid inconvenience caused by the temporary traffic restrictions and to cooperate with police officers deployed along the routes.
