Ven. Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero has been arrested by Batticaloa Police over an alleged obstruction of the official duties of officers at the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) office in Batticaloa.
Police said the Thero was taken into custody following the incident involving GSMB officials.
Ven. Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero is scheduled to be produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court following his arrest.
The Thero is the Chief Incumbent of the Keviliyamaduwa Sri Abhinavarama Viharaya and Mangalarama Rajamaha Viharaya in Batticaloa.
