Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has called for stronger collective action and international cooperation to address interconnected global crises and build resilient, inclusive and sustainable food systems.
Addressing a high-level panel discussion titled “Rising to the Moment: Igniting Consciousness to Address the Polycrisis” at the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Bhutan on September 1, the Prime Minister stressed that awareness must be transformed into measurable action and responsibility.
She highlighted the need to connect climate action, agricultural innovation, responsible consumption, food waste reduction, support for farmers and equitable access to nutrition.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya also emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation, while expanding access to climate finance and technology to ensure that development and sustainability progress together.
