The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) says a special operation has been launched to control a large-scale forest fire that has broken out in the forest area surrounding the Ohiya Reserve.
The DMC said the fire continues to spread, prompting authorities to take urgent measures to bring it under control.
A special team of personnel from the Sri Lanka Air Force has also joined the operation to assist in containing the rapidly spreading blaze.
Authorities are continuing efforts to control the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
