The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has decided to call for proposals from investors to lease 29 currently abandoned oil tanks in Trincomalee on a long-term basis.
CPC Managing Director Mayura Neththikumarage said the 29 tanks are among 61 oil tanks currently owned by Trincomalee Petroleum Terminal Limited.
He said the initiative aims to develop Trincomalee into a fuel re-export hub, potentially strengthening the country’s role in regional fuel storage and distribution.
Neththikumarage also revealed that renovation work has already commenced on two other oil tanks in Trincomalee owned by the CPC.
