The Cabinet has approved the awarding of contracts to operate six tour service counters at the arrival lobby of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

The contracts were awarded following a national competitive bidding process, during which 10 bids were received. The High-Level Standing Procurement Committee evaluated the bids and made its recommendations before the proposal was submitted by the Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation for Cabinet approval.

The contracts will be awarded for a period of three years, with the values excluding applicable taxes.

Accordingly, Counter 10 has been awarded to M/s Casons Travel (Private) Ltd for Rs. 251.03 million, while Counter 11 has been awarded to M/s J N W Lanka Tours for Rs. 209.67 million.

Counter 12 has been awarded to M/s Awavia Tours (Private) Ltd for Rs. 189.66 million, while Counter 13 has been awarded to M/s Ceylon Arrivals (Private) Ltd for Rs. 183.60 million.

Meanwhile, Counter 14 has been awarded to M/s Ayubowan Tours & Travels (Private) Ltd for Rs. 171.53 million, and Counter 15 has been awarded to M/s Explore Vacations and Travels (Private) Ltd for Rs. 234.73 million.

The contracts are intended to provide tour-related services to arriving passengers at Sri Lanka’s main international airport.
