The second Kumbal Perahera of the historic 1716th Kandy Esala Perahera will parade the streets of Kandy today (19), beginning at the auspicious time of 6.41 p.m.

The procession will set off from the Sri Dalada Maligawa and proceed along Dalada Veediya, D.S. Senanayake Veediya and Raja Veediya before returning to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Sri Lanka Police have implemented a special security and traffic management plan for the procession, with roadblocks, security checks, traffic diversions and designated parking arrangements in place.

The Kumbal Perahera will continue until August 22, followed by the Randoli Perahera from August 23. The Kandy Esala Perahera is scheduled to continue through August 28.

Large crowds of local and foreign visitors are expected to gather in Kandy to witness the traditional procession, which features ceremonial elephants, traditional dancers and cultural performances.
