Two children were rescued by the Sri Lanka Navy after the jet ski they were riding overturned at Gregory Lake in Nuwara Eliya yesterday.

Navy personnel attached to the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU), deployed for lifesaving duties at Gregory Lake, witnessed the incident and immediately responded.

The two children were at risk of drowning when Navy personnel reached them and brought them safely ashore.

The rescued children, aged 11 and 13, are residents of the Minuwangoda area.

Following the rescue, the children were handed over to the Nuwara Eliya Police.

The Sri Lanka Navy said its personnel remain vigilant and prepared to respond to emergencies at Gregory Lake and other locations to ensure the safety of the public.
