The Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court has ordered three suspects, including a woman, to be remanded in custody until August 18 in connection with an alleged attempt to attack a bus driver with a sword in Divulapitiya.
The incident occurred in Divulapitiya town when a car travelling behind a moving bus suddenly overtook and blocked the bus. A woman and two men reportedly got out of the vehicle and confronted the bus driver, with one of them allegedly brandishing a sword.
A passenger on the bus recorded the incident on a mobile phone. The video was later widely shared on social media, drawing public attention to the confrontation.
Following the circulation of the footage, Divulapitiya Police launched an investigation and identified and arrested the three suspects who were travelling in the car.
The suspects were subsequently produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court, where an order was issued to remand them until August 18 as investigations continue.
