Widespread traffic restrictions will be imposed in and around Boralesgamuwa, Bellanthara and Nedimala tonight as the main Randoli Maha Perahera is held from 8.00 p.m. on August 15 until approximately 4.00 a.m. on August 16.

Traffic restrictions will also affect Route 117, the Ratmalana–Nugegoda Road, between the Attidiya Police Training College Junction and the Pepiliyana Junction.

Authorities have advised motorists to use alternative routes during the restrictions.

Vehicles travelling from Maharagama and Piliyandala towards Dehiwala can use Kohuwala Junction and the Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road.

Motorists travelling from Mount Lavinia and Ratmalana towards Maharagama can use Attidiya Bakery Junction, Galle Road, Kohuwala and William Grinding Mills.

Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Pepiliyana can use Andrews Road from the Nedimala Junction and continue towards Kohuwala.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Horana, Piliyandala, Kesbewa and Maharagama towards Galle Road are advised to use Kohuwala Junction and the Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road.

Meanwhile, heavy vehicles travelling from Colombo towards Galle Road via the Pepiliyana or Boralesgamuwa Junctions should proceed to Piliyandala Junction, turn right onto Katubedda Road and access Galle Road via Katubedda Junction.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and expect delays in areas affected by the procession and temporary traffic controls.
